Farmers and landowners will learn about the new programs authorized by the Agricultural Act of 2014 (commonly referred to as the Farm Bill) at an informational meeting conducted by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and local USDA Farm Service Agency staff members. The Dubuque County meeting will be held at NICC - Peosta on Monday, December 1st from 1:00 - 3:00pm.

ISU Extension and Outreach will offer a nationally-renowned farm business course for northeast Iowa dairy women in November.  ISU Extension and Outreach is offering “Women Managing Dairy Cattle” in Holy Cross, Iowa. The course will be held from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on November 11, 18, and 25 at Neumann’s Bar and Grill at 927 Main St.

The 28th Annual Tri-State Agriculture Lenders’ Seminar will be held on Wednesday, October 29th at the Midway Best Western Hotel in Dubuque, Iowa from 9:45 am – 3:00 pm.  This year’s focus is on market outlooks for livestock, grains and dairy along with the issues of crop budgeting, crop insurance and the farm bill.

The Agricultural Act of 2014 (2014 Farm Bill) has authorized a one-time base acreage reallocation and program yield update. The Farm Bill has also authorized new farm programs including Price Loss Coverage (PLC) and Agricultural Risk Coverage (ARC). PLC and ARC crop programs provide price and revenue, respectively, payments to eligible producers for the 2014 through 2018 crop years. Read the full article for more details.
