Why should I check the radon level in my home? Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. It is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas the occurs naturally from the breakdown of uranium in the soil, rock, and water. Radon enters our home basements through cracks and holes in the foundation, loose-fitting pipes, sumps, exposed dirt floors or porous block walls. Home radon test kits are available from the Extension Office at a cost of $10. Read on for more information.
