Master Gardeners are trained volunteers who share a love of gardening, an enthusiasm for learning, and a commitment to helping others. Core training consists of 40 hours of horticulture education. Topics include soil basics, lawn care, flower and vegetable gardening, ornamental trees and shrubs, fruit crops, houseplants, weed and pest control. Read on for program and registration details.

AMES, Iowa – Weeds, herbicides and the effectiveness of herbicides to control weeds are topics of agronomic and economic importance to farmers and agribusinesses. It is so important that Iowa State University Extension and Outreach field agronomists are hosting Weeds Week, a weeklong series of informational meetings. The half-day sessions will be held Aug. 3-7 at five Iowa State University research farms.

Looking for ideas to improve child care in your center or home? The Better Kid Care Series is educational programming for local child care providers that can do just that. The series is group-based, hands-on and a ton of fun! Join us for all of the fall classes or just one.  We're exploring topics of  "Science for Young Thinkers", "Keeping Children Healthy & Safe", and "Building Good Consumers". More than half of Iowa farmland is rented. In some Iowa locations, as much as 70 percent of the land is farmed by farmers who don’t own the land. The result is many conversations and negotiations between farmland owners and producer-tenants to determine what makes sense for farmland leases and cash rental rates.
