Regional Director Robert Dodds Named Community Forestry Outstanding Professional for 2012

The Iowa Urban and Community Forestry Council has announced Robert Dodds from ISU Extension and Outreach Region 20 as an Outstanding Professional for 2012. The award was presented at the 23rd Annual Urban and Community Forestry Awards Luncheon on April 2, 2013 held at the Stoney Creek Inn in Johnston.

Robert Dodds has worked with ISU Extension and Outreach for over three decades, and became Regional Director in 2009. For nearly twenty years Dodds has been on the air every Saturday with his enormously popular radio show called “Let’s Get Growing” answering horticulture questions from all over the tri-state area. Through Extension Dodds has offered a variety of classes including the ISU Master Woodland Managers program as well as the Master Gardener Program. Dodds has also been a leader in community outreach and education; it is common to see him in schools throughout the year sharing his knowledge with elementary school children.

Robert Dodds is an outstanding example of Iowa’s community forestry professionals, by enhancing our forest resources. The decades that Dodds has labored to design projects and educate the public will benefit Southeast Iowa for future generations.
