Extension in Des Moines County offers programs that support families, horticulture, 4-H youth development, business and industry, communities, agriculture and continuing education. Iowa State University Extension builds partnerships and provides research-based learning opportunities to improve the quality of life in Iowa.


 
We want to promote volunteerism in Des Moines County through our Volunteer NOW! Program. Volunteers can find local non-profits in need of volunteers and pledge their hours. On Wednesday, November 11, ISU Extension and Outreach in Des Moines, Henry, Lee, and Louisa counties held a "Field to Fuel" STEM Event for all 4-H'ers and non 4-H'ers throughout the region. Read about the day and check out the pictures!

Local county offices of ISU Extension and Outreach sponsor food safety certification courses for food service managers and employees. Upcoming sessions at Great Prairie AEA in Burlington are Thuesday, February 16 and Wednesday, June 15, 2016. On Thursday, April 7th at the ISU Extension Office in Mt. Pleasant. Each class runs from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm with the exam to follow.
