VOLUNTEER NOW

We want to promote volunteerism in Des Moines County through our Volunteer NOW! Program. Volunteers can find local non-profits in need of volunteers and pledge their hours. Click on the logo to get more information and download a pledge form! Organizations can also sign up to be included in our list of area non-profits.

 

SHARE THE HARVEST

Providing excess garden produce to area food pantries prevents food waste while providing fresh, nutritious food to families experiencing food insecurity. Share the Harvest is a guide to make donating produce or volunteering time easier for local gardeners in Southeast Iowa.

Master Gardeners are trained volunteers who share a love of gardening, an enthusiasm for learning, and a commitment to helping others. Perhaps you've met a Master Gardener working at a community garden, teaching a workshop, or answering questions at your county Extension Office. You too can become a Master Gardener if you are interested in learning about plants and gardening, attend the training program, provide 40 hours of service, and are willing to help others. Training provided by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and the Des Moines County Master Gardeners.
