Delaware County ISU Extension participated in the annual Senior Health Fair held last week (Sept. 29) at the Community Center in Manchester.
Extension Nutrition and Health Field Specialist Cindy Baumgartner and new Delaware County Program Coordinator Lori Scovel shared research-based information from Iowa State University on a variety of health, nutrition and fitness topics, including details about ISU Extension’s Spend Smart Eat Smart and Healthy Meals in a Hurry programs. Also included at the senior health fair was a special pictorial display of the county’s Master Gardener summer garden project at the Good Neighbor Home and The Meadows.
As a part of the fun at the Senior Health Fair, the local Extension Office provided four special giveaways. Elvin Gienapp of Manchester won a meat thermometer, Mary Stegen of Strawberry Point was the winner of the Healthy Meals in a Hurry Cookbook, Gen Frentress of Manchester was the winner of the 2010 Nutrition calendar and Dorothy Stanford of Manchester won an ISU Extension shopping bag. Many of these items are available at the Delaware County Extension Office and make great holiday gifts.
