Delaware County’s 4-H Knitting Club, the Nifty Needlers, will hold an open house for area kids interested in learning how to knit or crochet. The open house meeting will be held Monday, Feb. 20, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Stitchin’ Post yarn shop, on N. Franklin Street in downtown Manchester.
The open house is free and kids are encouraged to bring their parents or grandparents. The Nifty Needlers club is welcoming new members and any Delaware County youth ages 9 through 18 (grades 4 – 12) is eligible to join in the fun. 4-H’ers in county clubs are welcome to join the Knitting club if they wish. There is no additional fee to join a special interest 4-H club.
The 4-H knitting club explores a wide variety of fiber and handcrafts, not just knitting and crochet. Last year members took several tours, made numerous projects for the Delaware County Fair and were engaged in fun community service projects as well.
At the February meeting, kids can learn their first stitches with hands-on instruction from local knitting volunteers and current club members.
