How do I join 4-H?
1. First, you will need to pick a 4-H club that you want to join. There are 19 4-H Clubs in Delaware County for families to choose from. Take a look at the clubs in your community. Consider where and when a club meets and how that will work for your family. Visit the clubs that you are interested in. Make sure you call ahead before you attend a meeting to let the leader know you’ll be coming and to make sure that the meeting date or time hasn’t been changed for a special event.
2. Once you've selected a club, let the club leader know you plan to join. He or she will be able to provide you with the Enrollment Form, or you can print one off the web. Don't forget to print off the Medical Information Release Form as well.
3. Pick your Projects. Use the Pick a Project Paper to help you decide which projects you would like to enroll in. If you need help selecting your projects, call Marcia Hanson at the Extension Office at 927-4201or e-mail her at marhan@iastate.edu.
3. Fill out the Enrollment Form and return it to your club leader. Your leader will get them to the Extension Office. All papers need to be turned in and signed for you to be enrolled in 4-H.
4. Complete the Medical Information Release Form and return it with your enrollment form.
5. Read the 4-H Family Newsletter! Everything you need to know is in The 4-H Line...for 4-H Families and Leaders. The office uses the newsletter as a major form of communication with families.
If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to ask! Contact Marcia Hanson at the Extension Office at 563-927-4201 or e-mail her at marhan@iastate.edu.
