2014 Delaware County Fair Livestock Sale Totals $306,450!

The 4-H and FFA livestock sale totaled $306,449.68 at the 2014 Delaware County Fair, according to information provided by the Delaware County Extension Office.
The beef sale included 119 animals that were sold for a total of $262,789.88 with an average sale price of $2,208.32 per head and $1.73 per pound. The grand champion market steer sold for $2.00 per pound.
Seventy-three hogs were sold in the swine auction for a total of $36,919.30 with an average price of $2.00 per pound. The average price per hog was approximately $505.74. The grand champion market barrow sold for $2.50 per pound. The grand champion market gilt sold for $1.40 per pound.
In the sheep division, 17 sheep were sold by 4-H and FFA youth for a total of $4,625.20 with an average price of $2.20 per pound. The average price per animal was $272.07. The grand champion market lamb sold for $2.50 per pound.
A total of 9 goats were sold for a total $2,115.30. The champion meat goat sold for $5.00 per pound. The average price per animal was $235.03 with an average price per pound of $3.23.
