Jade Putz, a member of the Greeley Go Getters 4-H Club, won championship honors in the Agility class at the 4-H Dog Show held on Monday, July 9, at the Delaware County Fair. Reserve honors went to Tirzah Roussell of the Aces 4-H Club. Blue ribbon winners in the class were Megan Harbaugh, Greeley Go Getters; Jade Putz, Greeley Go Getters; and Tirzah Roussell, Aces.
Isabelle Breitfelder of the Greeley Go Getters 4-H Club took top honors in the Novice and Tirzah Roussell of the Aces took reserve. Kinsey Gudenkauf, Prairie Clovers, received a blue ribbon.
Tirzah Roussell of the Aces 4-H Club won the Graduate Novice class. Jacob Gasper, Milo Livestock, was awarded the reserve. Blue ribbon winners were Kaitylin Axline, Aces; and Miranda Axline, Aces.
Tirzah Roussell, of the Aces 4-H Club was honored as Champion Dog Showman. Reserve honors went to Faith Davis, Milo Livestock 4-H Club.

4-H AND FFA HORSE SHOW RESULTS ANNOUNCED
Russel Prier of the Hoptown Hurricanes 4-H Club was the exhibitor of the champion pony. Brooklyn Sands, Milo Livestock, was the exhibitor of the reserve champion pony at the Delaware County Fair on Monday, July 9th. Jordyn Bolinger, Ed-Co FFA, exhibited the champion western horse and Sydney Bolsinger, Greeley Go Getters, took reserve champion western horse honors. The senior champion high point exhibitor was Allison Burris, of the Prairie Clovers 4-H Club and the reserve champion high point senior exhibitor was Kyle Grover, North Fork Wildcats. The Junior champion high point exhibitor was Alex Bishop, Milo Livestock; with reserve champion high point junior exhibitor honors going to Taylor Colbert, Greeley Go Getters.
Sportsmanship honors went to Lauren Rauch of the Aces 4-H Club.

WINNERS OF PET SHOW ANNOUNCED
Amber Cook, a member of the Aces 4-H Club, took championship honors in the pet show, also winning the dog class, at the Delaware County Fair on July 10th.
Champion honors in the cat category went to Mason Lubben of the Milo Livestock 4-H Club. Champion in the small pets class was Katie Steffen, Hazel Green Hawks.
Receiving blue ribbons were: Owen Breitfelder, Prairie Livestock; Georgie Hilby, 4-H Nifty Needlers; Jessica Hilby, 4-H Nifty Needlers; and Tirzah Roussell, Aces (2).
The pet show judge was Sylvia Spykerman.

FAUST EXHIBITS CHAMPION RABBIT AT DELAWARE COUNTY FAIR
Tiffany Faust, a member of the Starmont FFA, exhibited the grand champion rabbit and Austin Pettlon, of the Buffalo Belles and Boys 4-H Club, exhibited the reserve grand champion rabbit at the Delaware County Fair on Tuesday, July 10th.
Best Market Individual Champion winner was Trevor Fannon of the Ed-Co FFA. Best Market Pen of Three Champion went to Keaton Deutmeyer, of the North Fork Wildcats. BUCKET BOTTLE CLASS HELD AT THE 2012 FAIR
The conference judging of the Bucket-Bottle Calf class was held Tuesday afternoon, July 10th. In this project, members care for a newborn calf of any dairy or beef breed. They present a written report of the care and feeding regimen as well as answer the judge’s questions.
Amanda Engelken, a member of the Earlville Clever Clovers 4-H Club received Champion Bucket/Bottle Calf honors.
Blue ribbon winners were Michael Neuroth, West Delaware FFA, and Amber Engelken, Earlville Clever Clovers.
The judge was Heidi DeGier.
4-H AND FFA AGRONOMY DEPARTMENT RESULTS ANNOUNCED
There was a total of 9 agronomy exhibits entered at the Delaware County Fair.
Receiving champion honors in the corn class was Ryan Goedken, Milo Livestock. Blue ribbon winners were: Troy Monaghan, Hazel Green Hawks; and Jason Sperfslage, Coffins Grove Guys & Gals.
In the soybeans class, Ryan Goedken, Milo Livestock, received championship honors.
In the oat class, Becca Hermann, Milo Livestock 4-H Club, received championship honors.
In the hay class, Ryan Goedken, Milo Livestock, took top honors. Brian Heims, Milo Livestock; Eric Heims, Milo Livestock; and Becca Hermann, Nifty Needlers 4-H Club received a blue ribbon.

JUNIOR CATTLE FEEDERS & COW/CALF SHOW
Jenna Bonert, Petersburg Achievers 4-H Club, exhibited the Champion Junior Cattle Feeder Pen at the annual show on Wednesday, July 11, at the Delaware County Fair. Brandon Ries, Delaware Hustlers 4-H Club, exhibited the Reserve Champion Pen of Three.
There were a total of 12 pens of three entered in the Junior Cattle Feeders Show. One animal per pen was entered in the carcass contest. Jake Recker, North Fork Wildcats, exhibited the top winner of the live carcass contest.
The animals were then slaughtered at Dan’s Locker in Earlville. The Champion High Cutability Beef Carcass was awarded to Jenna Bonert, Petersburg Achievers, and the Champion High Quality Beef Carcass contest winner was Beau Vaske, West Delaware FFA. Denise Schwab, ISU Extension Beef Program Specialist, was the judge.
In the Junior Cattle Feeders rate of gain contest, Brett Rausch of the Petersburg Achievers received first place with his pen gaining 4.55 pounds per animal per day.

Carrie Voelker, Milo Livestock 4-H Club, exhibited the dairy cow that was chosen as "Dairy Supreme" champion at the Delaware County Fair on Wednesday, July 11. The "Dairy Supreme" is the grand champion of all breeds. Voelker also received Champion Holstein honors and Best Uddered Cow in Show with the same cow. There were over 145 dairy exhibited in the 4-H and FFA dairy show.
The winner of the dairy “kiddie show” in the junior division Andrew Knipper, son of Dave and Vicki Knipper. Shannon Morris, whose parents are Brice and Shawna Morris, won the senior division.
There were 21 goats entered in the 4-H and FFA Dairy Goat Show. Ben Putz, Ed-Co FFA showed the champion dairy goat. Katie Boeding, Hoptown Hurricanes, received reserve champion dairy goat. NACHTMAN TAKES TOP HONORS IN DELAWARE COUNTY BEEF SHOW
Devon Nachtman, Hazel Green Hawks, exhibited the Grand Champion Market Beef at the annual 4-H and FFA Beef Show at the Delaware County Fair on Thursday, July 12. Nachtman’s grand champion 4-H beef entry weighed 1330 pounds with a daily rate of gain of 2.89 pounds. The grand champion was also the champion medium weight.
Reserve grand champion, which was also the champion light heavyweight, was shown by Johnathan Rave, a member of the West Delaware FFA, which weighed 1365 pounds with a daily rate of gain of 2.68 pounds. The steer was also the champion home raised. Steve Holtz received the breeder of champion home raised trophy.
Parker Shakespeare, Hoptown Hurricanes 4-H Club received the champion rate of gain with an entry that had a daily rate of gain of 4.77 pounds. Mason Kruse, Petersburg Achievers, received the reserve champion rate of gain with a daily rate of gain of 4.60 pounds.

In the rate of gain contest, champion honors went to Nick Bagge, North Fork Wildcats with an average daily gain of .97. There was a tie for reserve honors between Cassie Eilers, Hazel Green Hawks, and Grand Schnieders, Milo Livestock, with an average daily gain of .89.
Champion senior showman was Jamie Nefzger, Petersburg Achievers, with reserve champion senior showman honors going to Kyle Jones, Starmont FFA.
The champion junior showman honors went Melissa Ludwig, North Fork Kit Kats, and reserve honors went to Kinley Kolbet, Prairie Clovers.
There were 66 sheep exhibits in the 4-H and FFA Sheep Show. The judge for this year’s show was Andy Kruse.
HILLERS AND LOECKE TAKE TOP HONORS IN 4-H & FFA SWINE SHOW
Haley Hillers, Milo Livestock and Macy Loecke, a member of the Greeley Go Getters 4-H Club, took top honors in the 2012 4-H and FFA swine show at the Delaware County Fair on Friday, July 13.
Haley Hillers exhibited the Grand Champion Barrow, which was also the Champion Heavy Weight Barrow. The Grand Champion Gilt was shown by Macy Loecke, and was also the Champion Medium Weight Gilt.
Reserve honors for the Grand Champion Market Barrow went to John Supple, Petersburg Achievers 4-H Club, which was also the Champion Light Weight Barrow. The Reserve Grand Champion Gilt honors went to Haley Hillers, a member of the Milo Livestock 4-H Club, which was also the Champion Heavy Weight Gilt.
Macy Loecke, of the Greeley Go Getters 4-H Club exhibited the Grand Champion Breeding Gilt. Reserve honors went to Mason Kruse, Petersburg Achievers.

Champion rate of gain gilt was shown by Elizabeth Deutmeyer, North Fork Kit Kats with an average daily gain of 2.45. Deutmeyer also exhibited the Reserve Champion rate of gain gilt with an average daily gain of 2.37.
Brett Rausch, Petersburg Achievers, exhibited the Champion lean gain gilt with backfat .55, loin eye 11.92, and lean/day 1.0454. Elizabeth Deutmeyer, North Fork Kit Kats, exhibited the Reserve Champion lean gain gilt with backfat .77, loin eye 9.07, and lean/day 1.0253.
Alex Deutmeyer, North Fork Wildcats exhibited the champion lean gain barrow with 1.08 backfat, loin eye 9.28 and lean/day 1.0478. Reserve champion lean gain barrow was also exhibited by Alex Deutmeyer, with backfat .87, loin eye 8.99 and lean/day 1.0272.
The Champion Senior Showman was Beau Vaske, West Delaware FFA, with reserve honors going to Alex Kehrli, Delaware Hustlers. Kaleb Kruse, Petersburg Achievers, was the Champion Intermediate Showman and Cole Kruse, Petersburg Achievers, was the reserve. Caleb Kehrli, Delaware Hustlers, received Champion Junior Showman with reserve honors going to Brock Hillers, Earlville Clever Clovers.
There was a total of 304 hogs exhibited in the swine show which was judged by Eric Polich.
MEAT GOAT SHOW HELD ON TUESDAY, JULY 10
There were 30 goats entered in the 4-H and FFA Meat Goat Show held on July 10, 2012. Andrew Palmersheim, Milo Livestock, exhibited the champion market goat and Kyle Jones, Starmont FFA, the reserve champion. The champion breeding goat was exhibited by Kyle Jones, Starmont FFA, with reserve honors going to Tim Bagge, North Fork Wildcats.
In the rate of gain contest, shared champion honors went to Kyle Jones, Starmont FFA and Grant Schnieders, Milo Livestock, with an average daily gain of .53. Reserve honors went to Bethany Schnieders, Milo Livestock, with an average daily gain of .42.
Champion Dairy Whether Goat was exhibited by Kyle Jones, Starmont FFA; Cassie Eilers, Hazel Green Hawks, received the reserve.
Kyle Jones, Starmont FFA, exhibited both the champion and reserve champion pygmy/miniature/fainting goats.

LIVESTOCK SALE TOTALS $212,360.40 AT COUNTY FAIR
The 4-H and FFA livestock sale totaled $212,360.40 at the 2012 Delaware County Fair, according to information provided by the Delaware County Extension Service.
The beef sale included 100 animals that were sold for a total of $173,915.75 with an average sale price of $1739.16 per head and $1.30 per pound. The grand champion market steer sold for $1.55 per pound.
Eighty one hogs were sold in the swine auction for a total of $33,348.80 with an average price of $1.56 per pound. The average price per hog was approximately $411.71. The grand champion market barrow sold for $2.00 per pound. The grand champion market gilt sold for $3.75 per pound.
In the sheep division, 15 sheep were sold by 4-H and FFA youth for a total of $3,565.80 with an average price of $1.94 per pound. The average price per animal was $237.72. The reserve grand champion market lamb sold for $2.00 per pound.
A total of 8 goats were sold for a total of $1,530.05. The champion meat goat sold for $4.00 per pound. The average price per animal was $191.26 with an average price per pound of $3.01.
Last year local youth sold 97 beef at the annual auction for a total of $176,595.88. In the swine auction 77 head brought in $27,111.65. Twelve sheep sold in 2011 for a total of $2,367.08 and nine goats sold for $772.23.
4-H CLOTHING ACTIVITIES WINNERS ANNOUNCED
Hailey Marbach, Hazel Green Hawks, was the winner in the senior division of the Delaware County 4-H Clothing Selection. Hailey will represent Delaware County at the Iowa State Fair in August. Alternate chosen for State Fair was Taylor Klostermann, Greeley Go Getters.
All the outfits worn in the Clothing Selection Program were modeled before the judges on June 25th at the Delaware County Community Center. Their judging was based on the individual’s poise, grooming, posture, the individual’s participation in the decision making process and on the quality of the outfit’s construction.
Seniors Brooke Vaske, Greeley Go Getters; Allison Eibey, Prairie Clovers (2); Kristi Moorman, Prairie Clovers; received blue ribbons in clothing selection.
Winner in the intermediate division was Hanna Marbach, Hazel Green Hawks 4-H Club. Blue ribbon winners were Bethany Schnieders, Milo Livestock; Jessie Hilby, Nifty Needlers; Amanda Fortman, Earlville Clever Clovers (2); and Taylor Colbert, Greeley Go Getters.
The junior division winner was Aleah Vaske, Greeley Go Getters. Madalynn Burke, Aces, received a purple ribbon. Juniors receiving blue ribbons were: Meghan Hoefer, Coffins Grove Guys and Gals; Britney Deutmeyer, Honey Creek Helpers (2); Georgie Hilby, Nifty Needlers; Amber Cook, Aces; Kaitlyn Goedken, Petersburg Achievers; Kennedy Bahls, Honey Creek Helpers; Erin Bonert, Petersburg Achievers, and Grant Schnieders; Milo Livestock.
All of the outfits entered in the Fashion Revue were sewn and modeled by the 4-H’ers. Judging was based on the fit and construction of the garment, grooming, poise, accessory selection and clothing care knowledge.
The Intermediate trophy winner was Elise Westhoff of the Nifty Needlers 4-H club.
Brooke Vaske, Greeley Go Getters, was the winner in the senior division of the Delaware County $15 Challenge. Vaske will represent Delaware County at the Iowa State Fair in August.
Participants were challenged to find outfits for $15 or less at garage sales, consignment or clothing resale stores. Receipt of purchase was required.

EDUCATIONAL PRESENTATION & EXTEMPORANEOUS WINNERS ANNOUNCED
The 4-H Educational Presentation Contest was held at the United Methodist Church in Manchester on June 28th. Fourteen youth gave presentations.

Taylor Klostermann, Greeley Go Getters, will represent Delaware County in the 4-H Extemporaneous Speaking Contest at the Iowa State Fair in August.
