New Iowa State University Extension County Director in Delaware County

Michael Henderson became the Delaware County Extension Education Director with Iowa State University Extension on April 16. He is responsible for the development and coordination of ISU Extension educational programs in Delaware County and administration of the county office located in Manchester. An Open House welcoming Henderson will be held at the Extension Office on Thursday, May 15 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

4-H/FFA Horse Demonstration Planned

Delaware County 4-H and FFA Horse Project members are invited to a riding demonstration at Doubletree Stables on Thursday, May 15 at 6 p.m. Members should bring their horse.

4-H and FFA Livestock ID's Due May 9

4-H and FFA members who wish to exhibit livestock at the Iowa State Fair, county fair, or district shows need to complete forms to identify their animals no later than May 9, 2008. The member is responsible for the completeness and accuracy of the identification forms.

"Ignite the Flame" Youth Conference

“Ignite the Flame” is the theme for the 2008 Iowa 4-H Youth Conference, Animal Science ROUNDUP and CSI:Crops. Over 1000 youth will attend the conference to be held June 24-26.

How Do I Join 4-H?

Joining 4-H is much easier than you may think. Anyone in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade can get involved. Clover Kids is a 4-H program for youth in grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade. 4-H Club membership is open to all youth 4th through 12th grade. Activities that you participate in will challenge your skills, and you will learn from other kids and adults that truly care about you and what you learn.

The annual Delaware County Fair plays host to hundreds of 4-H and FFA exhibits from throughout the county giving us the opportunity to showcase some of the county’s finest youth. It is also home to great shows and entertainment and a fabulous place to spend time with family and friends.
