Each year the Delaware County Master Gardener’s hold an educational lecture series “Monday’s in March”.  These talks are designed to both educate and entertain anyone interested in gardening and growing.  All programs are held at 7:00 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 116 Guetzko Court in Manchester.  The series this year will celebrate the twenty-second year of the project and promises to be filled with a lot of great information, instruction, and fun.  The first lecture will be held on Monday, March 7, and will continue each Monday throughout the month with a different topic and speaker each night.  All of the programs start at 7 pm at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Manchester. The public is invited, with a $2 donation taken at the door.

January 25, 2016

To become certified initially, applicators must take the exam offered by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS).  The local test date and location will be March 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Delaware County Community Center, Fairgrounds, Manchester.  A study guide (PAT 1) is available for purchase at the Delaware County Extension Office, 1417 N. Franklin, Manchester.

Confinement site manure applicators should plan to attend a two-hour workshop offered by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources to maintain or renew their confinement site manure applicator certification.  The joint workshop for Delaware and Dubuque Counties will be offered on January 29th at 1:30P.M. at FarmTek in Dyersville.

Delaware County will offer the Commercial Ag Weed, Insect and Plant Disease Management Continuing Instructional Course (CIC) for commercial pesticide applicators Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016. The program will be shown at locations across Iowa through the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Pesticide Safety Education (PSEP) program.
