Anyone wishing to enter the 2015 Delaware County Fair Kiddie Lamb Show and Dairy Kiddie Show must file an entry form in the Delaware County Extension Office by Monday June 29th. The Dairy Kiddie Show is open to any girl or boy who has not reached the 4thgrade as of September 15, 2014, and is at least 3 years old as of June 1, 2015.  Entrants may show one dairy heifer calf of any breed, providing that the calf was born after February 28, 2015.  The Dairy Kiddie Show will be held at noon during the Dairy Show on Wednesday, July 15, 2015.  Trophies will be provided by the Delaware County Fair Board, Delaware County Dairy Council, and Three Rivers FS Co. The Kiddie Lamb Show is open to any girl or boy who has not reached the 4thgrade as of September 15, 2014, and is at least 3 years old as of the date of the show.  Each entrant may show one lamb born after January 1, 2015.  The Kiddie Lamb Show will be held on the evening of Tuesday, July 14, 2015 between the Breeders Flock and Market Lamb classes.  Trophies will be provided by the West Delaware-Manchester FFA.  All animals entered in either show may be checked by an attending veterinarian prior to the show.  There is no entry fee for either event.  To entry click on the form Dairy Kiddie Show or Kiddie Lamb Show,  of stop into the Iowa State Extension & Outreach Office Delaware County, 1417 N. Each year the Delaware County Master Gardeners hold an educational lecture series “Mondays in March”.  These talks are designed to both educate and entertain anyone interested in gardening and growing.  All programs are held at 7:00 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 116 Guetzko Court in Manchester.  Click here for the full schedule.

Iowa dairy producers have the opportunity to learn about emerging dairy industry issues at the 2015 ISU Extension Dairy Days hosted by Iowa State University Extension specialists. The program is scheduled at several eastern Iowa locations. Delaware County will host an event on Feb. 5th, at the River Valley Coop, 800 Adams St., Ryan, IA 52330.  Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. and the program will conclude by 3:00 p.m.    For more information contact the Delaware County ISU Extension and Outreach office at 563-927-4201

January 12, 2015

Delaware County will host three sessions of the Private Pesticide Applicator course.  The sessions will be on  January 12th, at the Maquoketa Valley High School Auditorium, Delhi at 7:00 p.m., February 26th at the Fairgrounds Community Center, Manchester at 9:30 a.m. and again at 1:30 p.m.  The fee for this course is $20.  It is not necessary to pre-register.
