4-H Communications Event - March 25, 9:00 - Noon Adel Public Library
Public speaking skills are something you will use for the rest of your life...and there's no better time to start practicing and perfecting your skills than now!
If you have given a presentation at your club, or given a speech for a class or speech club, then you've got a head start! You can easily use one of those presentations for the communications day!
Or, do you like to make things with your hands? If so you will like working exhibits. You don't have to stand and present in front of a large crowd, but you still get the public speaking experience!
Clover Kids may also participate in this event. Clover Kids can choose either an educational presentation or a working exhibit. Times for Clover Kids will be assigned between 10:15 am and noon. Please register by March 21 by calling or emailing Lisa at 515-993-4281 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
EDUCATIONAL PRESENTATION: Teach the Crowd An educational presentation gives you the opportunity to teach something to the audience by presenting knowledge or information, or showing them a process. Members have used posters, props, and Power Point presentations to give their educational presentations! You can present on any topic that interests you.
WORKING EXHIBIT: Hands-on Activities Working exhibits give you the opportunity to teach your audience how to do something by engaging them in a hands-on activity. During a working exhibit, you don't stand in front of a crowd and deliver a speech. Instead, you invite passers-by to participate in an on-going activity you have available for them to do. You have the chance to teach your audience one-on-one! Craft activities or snack ideas work great for this type of exhibit.
POSTER COMMUNICATION: Say it in Writing
The poster division allows you to communicate non-verbally through pictures and words. Use your creativity to design a poster related to one of the following themes: "4-H is...", "Join 4-H!", "Start Your Future Here", or "Nothing Compares".
