Parenting Together
Are you speaking the same language? Is the way you express love
to your parenting partner the way they understand love? Try out
these different love languages this month. Which ones are meaningful
to you? your spouse?
Week 1
Quality Time – Turn off the TV or computer and spend 15 minutes
daily just listening to and looking at your partner. Don’t
offer advice. Notice her feelings and respond with “Sounds
like you are feeling . . .”
Week 2
Words of Affirmation – Make a list of the things you notice
your partner doing for the children or you and tell her “Thank
you.”
Week 3
Gifts – Be physically present at an important time this week.
Make or buy a small gift or card that represents your love for her.
Week 4
Acts of Service – How does your partner serve your family?
Find out which tasks she likes least. Surprise her by doing it for
her this week.
Week 5
Physical Touch – Hold hands, give a hug, snuggle. Add some
gentle non-sexual touch to your time with your partner this week.
