| Let's Play!
Spend some quality time with your children by teaching them to
cook outdoors. Your kids will learn a new life skill and enjoy all
of the praise for cooking dinner!
Hamburgers and hot dogs are easy-to-grill foods that you can teach
your children to cook. This can be a fun, supervised activity for
children ages 8 and up.
Remember Safety:
- Wash your hands before and after handling
any uncooked foods with antibacterial soap.
- Wash your cutting board with hot water
and soap after each use. Cutting boards can house millions of
bacteria that do not rinse away.
- Never thaw meat products at room temperature.
- Keep raw meats separate from all other
foods.
- Cook all beef and poultry until the juice
flows clear.
Talk While You Cook!
Kids, dads and grandfathers strengthen their relationship when they
talk together. Use these conversation starters:
- What is your favorite part about
summer and why?
- Is there anything special you want to do
this summer?
- Did you barbecue when you were younger?
- Has the family always gathered for barbecues
in the summer?
- Who taught you how to barbecue?
