Let's Play!

A child will ask you many questions about his or her family. You can have fun together while helping them learn about their family history. Here are ways to have fun helping your child learn about his family and start recording history too.

  • Take pictures of family members and start a picture scrapbook
  • Visit grandparents and talk about what life was like when they were kids.
  • Draw a family tree and explain who everyone is and how your child is related to each person.
  • Take your children to places you spent time as a child.
  • Use the internet and look up your family's last name and where it came from.
  • Write a family newsletter to mail out to everyone.
  • Keep a family journal.

Everybody needs to have a sense of who they are and this is a great way to have fun learning about your family together. Grandparents love to tell their grandchildren about their childhood and you may learn something new about your parents.
