Let’s wrestle!
Dads’ play with children teaches self control, decision making
and how to have pure fun! Fathers tend to help kids learn by discovery,
offering suggestions and reassurance when the child is just before
the point of frustration. Fathers challenge kids to go the next
step physically and mentally. Is it okay to wrestle with your daughters?
YES! They need to learn their physical and emotional limits in a
safe supportive environment. What better place than with dad?!
Cooking with Kids
Dads make snack and mealtimes special because they can teach healthy
food choices, math, science and language skills at the same time.
Make sure all hands are washed before you begin. Let young children
scoop, stir, shake or sprinkle ingredients. Elementary age children
can learn to measure, use the microwave and an electric mixer and
choose healthy foods. For the older child, teach them jobs like
cutting vegetables, using the stove, oven, planning a menu, and
creating a shopping list.
Clean up can be fun with a game getting points for each item that
makes it into the wastebasket, of “submarine dives”
by utensils in the dishwater, singing a made-up “clean-up”
song, and vacuuming up the dry ingredient spills.

“Grandma Likes…”
Grandma came to visit the family but she’s picky in what she
likes and doesn’t like. “Grandma likes the moon but
she doesn’t like the stars.” The object is to figure
out why Grandma likes certain things but not others. (Grandma only
likes things they have two letters in a row in their word. Examples:
Grandma likes apples but she doesn’t like bananas. Grandma
likes trees but she doesn’t like nature!)
Make up your own version of what “Grandma likes”!
