Dads at a Distance

Kids need their dads. Dads need their kids. Fathers and children can stay connected even when they are apart.

Some dads live away from their kids due to divorce, separation, or incarceration. Some dads are away earning a living to support their children's needs or serving in the military.

Whatever your situation, you're still very important to your child and you can make a difference by staying connected.

Your relationship with your child's mother and extended family influences your bond with your child. Examine your relationships with these important people in your child's life.

Divorced or Separated (pdf) - Your devotion to your children can keep you connected with them. Make the most of your situation with these ideas.

Off to Work (pdf) - Working dads provide a stable financial base for their children, and teach them career skills. When children know what to expect while Dad is away, and have contact while you are traveling, their sense of comfort and security is strengthened.
