Activities

A Coordinator was hired to facilitate the building of relationships with neighborhood citizens and leaders.  The Coordinator linked collaboration partnerships nurtured by the Director to activities of the neighborhoods. The Coordinator was assigned to the project full-time. The Director had other full-time responsibilities in eight counties, including this project.

The first order of business was to completely understand the needs of the target area. Survey tools were one such means, but creating personal relationships with key neighborhood groups and leaders was the most powerful. The relationships not only gleaned a clear understanding of needs, but facilitated addressing the needs. Neighborhood leaders were connected to neighborhood schools, City of Dubuque Neighborhood services and Extension through The Connecting Link project Coordinator. Funds were used in a variety of activities focussed on building capacity and strengthening collaboration.
