AMES, Iowa -- At first glance Buena Vista County and Waterloo may seem too different to compare, but they bring similar challenges to the Iowa Sustainable Communities Project. One year into the five-year project, this ISU Extension effort received a federal review from the National Children, Youth and Families at Risk (CYFAR) Program. The 2010 CYFAR Conference will be held May 4-5 in San Francisco, California.
Buena Vista County and Waterloo have been selected as the next CYFAR communities as part of the Sustainable Community Projects (SCP). The goals of SCP are to develop and deliver educational programs that equip limited resource families and youth who are at-risk for not meeting basic human needs with the skills they need to lead positive, productive, contributing lives.
