We live in a time when food hazards and risks are prevalent.  We are all more aware today about food safety and foodborne illnesses than we were a decade ago.  It’s your right as a consumer to receive safe food, and if you’re a food service provider, it’s your job to ensure that the food you serve is safe.  To help food service professionals maintain their safe food standards, Crawford County Extension & Outreach is sponsoring a food safety training seminar for food service professionals on October 15, 2013 starting at 9:00 am at the Crawford County Extension Office, 35 South Main in Denison.  It is based on the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation’s ServSafe certification program and the Iowa Food Code.  The cost of the 8-hour course is $150 which includes a manual and the national certification exam.  The course is required by some companies and state licensing which may be restaurants, hospitals, schools, long-term care and assisted living facilities.  For more information about the program, contact the Crawford County Extension Office at 712-263-4697.
