An Initiative of Selected Iowa Communities

Purpose:

• Create a shared direction for the future of your community.
• Develop and implement strategies that move your community in the desired direction.
• Involve a diverse group of citizens in community development decisions.
• Build the skills needed to accomplish the above.

Players:

A group of approximately 45 individuals who represent all of the interests and perspectives of your community. Participation goes beyond the groups and individuals traditionally involved in leadership roles. The entire community must be represented.

These individuals must make a one-year commitment to visioning, planning, training, and data gathering. Additional community members will be involved at various points in the program.

Iowa State University Extension to Communities provides program facilitation, skills training, access to data, and technical assistance on some projects.
