The location of both the Institute and the Academy will be at the Gateway Hotel and Conference Center in Ames, Iowa. Look for registration materials for the Institute in February and for the Academy in late March or early April through our website.

The Institute program will continue to offer educational programming that will qualify for IIMC certification. The Municipal Clerks Education Foundation (MCEF) of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) is offering scholarships to attend Municipal Clerks Institutes and Academies in 2016. The deadline is February 1, 2016. Application and criteria can be requested by phone at 909-944-4162 or on-line at www.iimc.com (choose Foundation - then Scholarships).

The Iowa Municipal Professionals Institute (MPI) and the Iowa Municipal Finance Officers Association (IMFOA) will also have scholarships available for 2016 to cover registration fees. The Municipal Professionals Institute scholarships are open to ALL Iowa municipal clerks. The IMFOA scholarships are open to Iowa municipal clerks who are members of IMFOA. To be eligible, participants must register for at least 30 hours. THE DEADLINE IS APRIL 1, 2016 Please contact Cindy Stuve at 515-294-8397 or by email at cstuve@iastate.edu for more information or an application.

These scholarships will be given based upon need with the following criteria in mind:
1) Council and/or self-financing of Institute registration fees is not available or
over burdensome to the municipal or individual budget;
2) Attendance at Institute may not occur without scholarship;
3) Only one application submitted from a municipality.

Applications must be received by April 1, 2016 and recipients will be approved at the April IMFOA meeting. No person shall be able to receive more than one scholarship and reception of the IIMC scholarship will take preference over the IMFOA/IMPI scholarships. (Deadline for applying for IIMC scholarships is February 1, 2016.) If a person is chosen to receive both, he or she must accept the IIMC scholarship and the IMFOA/MPI scholarship will be given to an alternate. If you receive a scholarship from IIMC, please contact Cindy Stuve so an alternate can be selected. Alternates will be notified in April after IIMC chooses their scholarship recipients.

Another opportunity for scholarships may be through regional organizations in your area, please contact them directly for more information.
