We are searching for a 4-H Youth Program Summer Assistant to help the Clinton County Extension staff with preparation and implementation of 4-H activities throughout the summer months, as youth programming is at it's busiest during the summer and the Clinton County 4-H fair activities run July 5-19, 2015.

 Are you ready for some March Madness?!?  Start thinking about putting your team together for the annual 4-H Basketball Tournament.  The tournament will be on Saturday, March 21, 2015.  Rosters will be due to the Extension Office by March 9, 2015.

The Iowa State University Agronomy Club is excited to announce a new educational opportunity for middle school 4-Hers grades 4-8 who are interested in agriculture and agronomy. Together with the staff and professors of the Iowa State University Agronomy Department, the club will be hosting a fun-filled interactive day full of demonstrations by world renowned ISU Agronomy faculty and teaching assistants, a career fair with companies in agricultural industries, a lunch, and a raffle. The day will focus on many important areas such as weeds, seeds, crops, weather, and soil. This event will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2015 in Ames at Agronomy Hall. The cost is $5 per attendee to help cover the cost of lunch and one t-shirt per person. Registration deadline is March 1!

Iowa State University Extension is offering several ServSafe® classes for food service professionals. ServSafe® training will provide knowledge every food service provider must know about food hazards and proper food handling practices in order to keep food safe and protect the establishment against the costly nightmare of a foodborne-illness outbreak. Participants will learn ways of prevention, regulatory requirements, and how to improve food quality.

The community garden, located at the corner of 13th Avenue North and North 14th Street, was tilled Wednesday for the planting season. Kelli Jahn, the youth and family educator for the Iowa State University extension and outreach office, said the community garden was started by the ISU Extension, Sisters of St. Francis and the Clinton Recreation Department to bring area gardeners together and promote good nutrition.
