4-H Online Information for Families & Leaders

Re-enrolling 4-H members/families are encourged to use the 4-H online system to re-enroll each year.
New 4-H families in Clayton County must fill out paper enrollment forms the first year. Please contact a club leader or the Clayton County Extension Office for enrollment, medical/permission and code of ethics forms.

Clayton County 4-H and FFA members have entered 2825 exhibits for the county fair competition according to Tammy Muller, County 4-H & Youth Program Coordinator.   The 161st annual Clayton County Fair is scheduled for August 5-10, 2015 at the fairgrounds located at the village of National (5 miles north of Garnavillo).

ISU Extension and Outreach- Clayton County is accepting applications for a Full-Time AmeriCorps Member to work in the Clayton County School Districts with afterschool 4-H programs in STEM and Communications and the Arts and in-school programming at MFL Mar Mac working with Food and Fitness. High school graduate required, post-secondary education preffered. Valid driver’s license and transportation required. Send resume and cover letter to sdurbin@iastate.edu by August 1. Wednesday- Fair Funtivities Day Camp 9-3  followed by Free Watermelon

Thursday- 5-7 - S.T.E.A.M. Day (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math)-  Lego Competition and Hands-On Fun

Friday- 5-7- Food and Fitness Day- Blender Bike Smoothies and Healthy Living Festivities

Saturday- 3-5- Working Exhibits Day- hands on take homes and education games led by 4-H members

Madi Boehm, Elgin; Twyla Pufahl, McGregor; Emma Ehlers, Edgewood and Emily Moses, Monona attended the 2015 Iowa 4-H Youth Leadership Conference in Ames on June 30- July 2. Madi and Twyla attended CSI: Crops, Emily attended Dairy Animal Science Round-Up and Emma was a delegate to the annual conference. This annual conference is a great opportunity for 4-H’ers and youth to meet others from across the state as they discover their own interests.

Clayton County 4-H and FFA members enrolled a total of 53 lambs and 51 meat goats at the weigh-in held May 9  at the fairgrounds in National.  These lambs and meat goats are now eligible to compete in the market show at the Clayton County Fair on August 7, 2015.   Daily rate-of-gain will be determined on the lambs and goats.  This will be used in the evaluation of the project by the judge at the fair.
