The Clayton County Extension & Outreach welcomes Shannon Dallenbach Durbin to its staff as a part-time Office Assistant & Program Coordinator. Shannon is hired to work 30 hours per week, but has started on a limited basis to allow her to complete her other commitments. Durbin comes to this position after two years of AmeriCorps service at the Crawford County Extension Office in Wisconsin. She will be working to expand the Lego Robotics program and after school programming as well as other STEM opportunities. Durbin grew up on a dairy farm in Arlington and graduated from Starmont. She graduated from The College of St. Catherine (now St. Catherine University) in St. Paul, MN with a B.A. in Art Education. She returned to Arlington to teach art at Starmont and later moved to Elkader in 2008 when she accepted a position as editor of The Clayton County Register. Currently, Durbin is directing the high school musical at Central and owns and manages Whimsy Market on Main Street. She lives with her husband, Bryce, an illustrator for AOL's Tech Crunch, and their 3-year-old son, Lincoln.
