Advanced Feeder Class Winners Announced
With the support of the Clayton County Cattlemen, the Edgewood Sales Commission and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Clayton County 4-H and FFA members recently competed in their annual Advanced Cattle Feeding Program. Participants enter cattle into the program in December and begin tracking all of their income and expenses. On June 16thmembers brought their cattle to the Edgewood Sales Commission and had their projects ultra-sounded for market acceptability. Additionally members calculated their breakeven costs and performance records for their cattle. Presentations were given to a judge and to the crowd in attendance and the participants were ranked on their knowledge of their cattle.
Winners of this year's Advanced Feeding program in the Live Division include Laci Orr and Lane Orr in the Junior Division; Andrey Shirbroun and Hailey Kann in the Intermediate Division and Joe Kann and Tom Shirbroun in the Senior Divsion. Carcass winners will be announced during the beef show at the Clayton County Fair on August 1.
