Clayton County 4-H will hold its annual Lock-In on Friday, March 6 at the Northeast Iowa YMCA in Postville. The Lock-In is open to Clayton County 4-H members in 6th, 7th & 8th grades and their guests. Pre-registration is required by February 25.

January 23, 2015

Clayton County 4-H will hold its annual Clover Kid Fun Day on Saturday, February 28 from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at Johnson's Reception Hall in Elkader.  This year's theme is Buck-a-Roo Bash.  The fun and educational day will be filled with crafts, games, music and storytime.  Pre-registration is required. Open to all kindergarten - 3rd grade students.  Registration deadline is February 16.

Clayton County will offer the Private Pesticide Applicator Re-certification course for pesticide applicators on Tuesday, February 24 at the Opera House in Elkader. Registration begins at 1:00 p.m., and the course runs from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.  Another date in Clayton County  for this continuing education is March 26 at 7:00 p.m. at  Freedom Bank Community Room in Elkader.

What can a baby see right after birth? How much should a 1-year-old eat? Should a 3-year-old have a hearing test? These and many more questions keep parents awake at night wondering how they can be a better parent to their children, said Cindy Thompson, a human sciences specialist in family life with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. Fortunately, a free and easily accessible resource is available just in time to provide some answers.

The 2015 Tri-State Forest Stewardship Conference is scheduled for Saturday, March 14 at Sinsinawa Mound Center, Sinsinawa, Wis. This is the 21st year for the conference, which annually draws 500 woodland landowners from Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa.
