Clayton County Extension has 3 help sessions planned for 4-H members to prepare for the county fair. Design Elements & Art Principles and a Photography workshop will be held on July 8.  On July 15  a fair preparation workshop will be held.

It's that time of year again to recruit new County Council members for 2013-2014. 4-H members in grades 11 or 12 in the fall of 2013, may apply for County Council. Council members are active role models in Clayton County 4-H, and they gain valuable leadership and team-building life skills. Make new friends and have fun!

STEM Camp is open for all youth entering 4th-8th grades.  The camp runs from July 8-12, 9 am-3 pm at the Freedom Bank Community Room in Elkader.  Youth will explore the science behind Animals, Food, and Environmental Energy.  Robotics and Physics' experiments are an all time favorite.  Deadline is July 1.  $15 a day or $50 for all 5 days.  Use this registration form

The Annual Spring Field Day at the Borlaug Learning Center features many topics.  Discussion will be held on corn growth and development from the planting date trials and expectations on pollination.  Updates on crop and soil fertility issues from the drought in 2012 to the late start in 2013, nitrogen management, sulfur and micronutrient recommendations, weed control challenges, weed resistance management and updates on the latest plant diseases.

Day camps offer the chance for hands-on experiments, activities, games, adventures, and most of all - FUN! This year Clayton County Extension is offering 5 different day camps for youth completing grades K – 3.   All camps run from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and cost only $15 each. Multi-camp discount available. Registration is due one week prior to camp. All materials are provided - just bring a sack lunch and drink. You do not have to be a 4-H member to participate, so invite a friend and join the fun!
