Clayton County ISU Extension and Outreach is excited to host an upcoming educational class on safe home food preservation. Cindy Baumgartner, Nutrition and Health Program Specialist and Master Food Safety Advisor, will teach the basics of canning, freezing, and dehydrating food during the two-hour “Food Preservation 101” workshop to be presented from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on July 17. The workshop will be held at the Peace United Church, located at 301 N. Main St. in Elkader.

County Fairs are serving as the landscape to showcase the NE Iowa Food & Fitness Bike Blender! Youth and adults are using human power to pedal the bike to make tasty strawberry/banana fruit smoothies.  Watch for the bike blender in the next few weeks for the County Fairs! Join the bike blending-taste testing team in NE Iowa!

Fourth through sixth grade students have the opportunity to participate in summer in Art Camps with hands on projects by local artists.  Click here for Registration Form.   Camps are Monday-Thursday 9 am -noon.  Elkader's Camp begins June 30.  Guttenberg's Camp begins July 7.
