A Heavenly Celebration Supports 4-H Sponsored 'Sew Inspired'

A Heavenly Celebration in Emmetsburg, IA donated a total of 58 formal gowns to the Clay County 4-H program.  This donation will make the 4-H sponsored regional fashion design event "Sew Inspired" possible.

Teams of students from around Northwest Iowa will use these dresses to build a design of their own to bring to the Clay County Fair in 2010.

"This donation is what got our event off the ground, we couldn't have offered this opportunity without it," says Bonnie Dalager, ISU Extension Clay County Program Director.

Ruth Brown, owner of A Heavenly Celebration, says she's excited to see the designs the students come up with.  "There's been an increasing trend in high school girls wanting to add their own touches to their gowns.  They may want to change the length of the gown, or add something decorative."

Northwest Iowa teens can contact their county office to see if they are assembling a team.  Each team will be given an inspiration packet from which to springboard their design from, using two gowns as the bulk of their material for the outfit.  Team members will have from June through August to work on their project.

The runway show will be a fun event, with awards for participation only and feedback opportunities for the youth.
