Clay County 4-H Hosted Vet Science SpIn Event

ISU Extension and Outreach - Clay County hosted a “Explorations in Vet Science” SpIn Event at the Clay County Fairgrounds.   The Vet Science Event was through the Iowa 4-H Youth Development Program and promoted better understanding by the youth as to the role of veterinary medicine as it relates to food production and well as to companion animal care.   The youth participants in this program also had increased awareness of career opportunities in agriculture and in life sciences.  Janessa Mechler, DVM of Animal Medical Centers, visited the event with her two Golden Retrievers and brought the veterinary clinic experience to the youth.  All the youth were able to hear a heartbeat and to give a physical exam to one of the dogs.
