Canine Good Citizen Program Completed by 4-H Members
The “Canine Good Citizen” 6 week SpIn Event taught by Kathy Launderville, Clay County 4-H Dog Committee member, concluded this week with a dog and handler evaluation conducted by Ron Meerdink of Orange City. The Canine Good Citizen(CGC) Program is an AKC sponsored program that is designed to recognize and stress responsible dog ownership and to teach basic training and good manners to dogs while they are at home and are in the community. “I am impressed with the temperaments and training of the dogs and the way the handlers handled their dogs,” said evaluator Rob Meerdink.
Congratulations to all handler and dog “teams” who participated in the Canine Good Citizen Class and Evaluation. They did an amazing job working together. All teams passed the 10 step CGC test and will receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club.
