2007 Youth Council
December ~Saturday, December 8th the youth council members met, despite the weather, for their holiday party at the Spencer Bowling Alley. While there the youth council voted to raise funds to sponsor up to seven scholarships for Clay County youth in 4-H.

October ~ The youth council met on October 2nd and voted to give a donation of $200 to Upper Des Moines Opportunity with the proceeds from the Teen Fair Dance that was held at the Events Center during the Clay County Fair.

August ~ Sunday, August 5 youth council members will gather for an afternoon of fun. Youth council members who graduated from high school in May will be honored for their youth council leadership. The event will take place at 2:00pm, East Leach Park in Spencer by the volleyball court.
July ~ Youth Council members were busy throughout July providing assistance for two junior day camps and Clay County Achievement Day.

June ~ Saturday, June 30 a car wash was held at Arnold Motor parking lot, Grand Avenue, Spencer. Funds will be used for youth council sponsored scholarships. 
Friday June 29 Youth Council members met to make plans for a variety of summer events.
May ~ Thursday, May 31 Youth Council members will meet at the Clay County Extension Office at 2:00pm. Election of officers and summer activities will be on the agenda.
Clay County 4-H Youth Council members met on Sunday, May 5, 2:00-4:00pm at the 4-H Auditorium. Plans were made for summer programs. Youth Council members had several activities to help them get better acquainted.
March ~ Thirteen high school 4-Hers were inducted into the Clay County 4-H Youth Council during the Clay County 4-H Awards Event.

2006 Youth Council
October ~ Celebrate National 4-H Week October 1-7, 2006. Throughout the month of October Clay County 4-H Youth Council members honor 4-H by making visits to area 4th grade classrooms. Youth Council members will be sharing highlights of their own 4-H careers and help young people learn how they can become involved in the world's largest youth development organization.
July ~ Clay County 4-H Youth Council members washed cars on July 1st to raise money for youth council sponsored scholarships. 
June ~ Spencer Flagfest celebration provides an opportunity for NW Iowans to salute our country and display patriotism. During the Flagfest parade 4-Hers had the opportunity to display 4-H pride. Thanks to youth Council members who created the 4-H parade float and 4-H fans to hand-out during the parade. 
May ~ Clay County 4-H Youth Council members meet on Tuesday, May 23, 7:00pm at the Clay County Extension Office. Summer plans and committee reports were on the agenda.
April ~ Clay County Youth Council 4-H Challenge, Sunday, April 2, 1:30-5:00pm, 4-H Auditorium, Clay County Fairgrounds.
Members became better acquainted and had some fun! Summer planning started and committees begin functioning.
March ~ Clay County 4-H Awards Event, Sunday March 5, Clay County Regional Events Center, 2:00-4:00pm.
Current Youth Council members served as Masters of Ceremony for the awards event.
Five new members were installed and will be joining the youth council activities in April.
February ~ County Wide Community Service Project ~ Youth Council members took the lead in collecting items for the “Center Against Abuse & Sexual Assault”, CAASA. Office supplies: paper, staples, paper clips, etc. and monetary donations were collected.
January ~ Youth council members celebrated the start of a new year by getting together for an afternoon of fun on Sunday, January 22. The Youth Council holiday party planning committee included: Kristin, Sam, Quinn and Madella.
2005 Youth Council
December ~ In the spirit of the holiday season youth council members brought dental items to donate to an orphanage in the Ukraine. During the business meeting a wide array of topics were discussed. (CWF trip, Scholarships, Area Recognition Opportunities, Global 4-H Youth Conference, County Community Service Project, and County Intermediate camp)
It's great to have fun with 4-H friends. Youth council members tested out a few games they can use during recreation time at their club meetings.

November ~ Creativity abounds as youth council members design holiday greeting cards to send to the Iowa 4-H Foundation. 
Conducting mock interviews is a great way to prepare senior youth council members for upcoming scholarship opportunities.

October ~ In honor of National 4-H Week (October 2-8) Youth Council members make visits to area 4th grade students. Youth Council members are excited to share with potential new members all that 4-H has to offer.

September ~ International Four-H Youth Exchange (IFYE) participant spoke to Clay County 4-H Youth Council members about his home and life in Germany. Steffen is a cultural exchange youth who is very interested in agriculture and farming. He enjoyed living and experiencing daily life in NW Iowa for more than a month. The International Four-H Youth Exchange Program is a six months, three months, or six weeks program geared to sharing cultural perspectives. September ~ Youth Council members provided service to the Clay County 4-H program by volunteering their talents during a variety of 4-H events throughout the Clay County Fair.

August ~ Gathering and processing 4-H entries for the Clay County Fair is a big undertaking. Youth council members took turns throughout the month of August to volunteer at the Clay County Extension Office to assist during the entry process and help with fair preparations.

July ~ Youth Council members carried out a car wash fundraiser. Free will donations from the car wash will go toward youth council sponsored scholarships for high school graduating senior 4-H members. The car wash was held at Arnold Motor Supply in Spencer.

June ~ Community Service is an important part of 4-H. Youth Council members lead by example as they stepped forward to volunteer to paint in the newly renovated 4-H Auditorium.

April ~ Youth Council members say thank you to Marilyn Rehnstrom for the handcrafted queen size quilt she constructed and donated to be raffled for the benefit of the 4-H Auditorium renovation.
