Food Safety Quality Assurance Certification

 FSQA training

The quality assurance program is designed to help 4-H animal and livestock project members understand their part in the production chain and ultimately produce a quality and safe food product.

FSQA Certification Requirements:

 

2008 Iowa State Fair & Clay County Fair

  • All 4-H beef exhibitors
  • All 4-H sheep exhibitors
  • All 4-H swine exhibitors
  • All 4-H dairy exhibitors (cattle & goat)
  • All 4-H meat goat exhibitors
  • All 4-H rabbit exhibitors
  • All 4-H poultry exhibitors

Certification options

  • Youth 11 and younger on January 1 must attend a training  (training certification is good for one year)
  • Youth ages 12-14 on January 1 may:
  1. attend a training every year (training certification is good for one year)
  2. test out (test out certification is good until age 15)
  • Youth ages 15-18 on January 1 may:
  1. attending a training every year (training certification is good for one year)
  2. test out (test out certification is good until age 19)

Adults 19 and older must obtain certification through adult PQA or BQA training programs.  Contact your veterinarian or commodity organization for more information.

2008 Clay County FSQA Training dates

  • Tuesday, March 18 ~ 5:00 - 7:00pm
  • Thursday, March 20 ~ 5:00 - 7:00pm
  • Tuesday, April 8 ~ 5:00 - 7:00pm
  • Thursday, April 10 ~ 5:00 - 7:00pm

All Clay County FSQA trainings will be held at the 4-H Auditorium in the 4-H Exhibit Building on the Clay County Fairgrounds, Spencer.  Pre-registration is required.

Test out Option

Clay County 4-H members may set up appointments to take the FSQA test at the Clay County Extension Office.  Simply call 262-2264 or email kday@iastate.edu to set up an appointment.
