Consumer Judging Opportunities

  • Consumer judging will be open to all 4-H members in attendance.  Youth do not need to be entered in communications or clothing events to participate in consumer judging.  No pre-entry is necessary to participate in the consumer judging contest.
  • What is Consumer Judging? Simply, it is making a decision and telling why you made it.  4-H consumer judging is essentially a matter of comparing items and deciding which is better and why.
  • What happens at a Consumer Judging event? Individuals will go to stations that have a situation card and four products for comparison.  They rank the products from best to worst and mark a judging card, then go onto another judging station.  There will be eight different judging stations. Points will be awarded based on how rankings compare to the official placing.
  • Clay County Consumer Judging Team will be selected using the high scores from Communications Day.  those individuals will be asked to represent Clay County in the District Consumer Judging Contest to be held at the Clay County Fair.

Achievement Day check-in times are yet to be determined. Each 4-H club will be given a club check-in time.
