“Effective Leadership” will be taught by ISU Extension and Outreach Community and Economic Development Specialist, Jane Goeken.  In this all-day session, participants will learn how to lead effective meetings, deal with controversy, and manage change when working with boards or other groups.  Those attending will improve their leadership skills, and increase their effectiveness in their professional positions, volunteer roles, and in their community.

The 2014 Iowa State Fair, held in Des Moines, ran from August 7 through August 17 and found many 4-H youth from Clay County competing in 4-H static exhibit, clothing and communication events.  The Iowa State Fair is a great part of Iowa’s heritage and hosts an abundance of opportunities for 4-Hers and their families.

Donations to the Clay County 4-H Endowment help local youth to become strong leaders, effective communicators and develop generosity through citizenship and community service projects.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) makes operating loans of up to $5,000 to eligible individual youths ages 10 to 20 to finance income-producing, agriculture-related projects.  The project must be of modest size, educational, and initiated, developed and carried out by youths participating in 4-H Clubs, FFA, or a similar organization.

MaxYield Cooperative presented Clay County Extension and Outreach with a contribution aimed at decreasing the cost of enrollment in 4-H youth programs.
