This Feedlot/Beef Master Hoof Care Technician Program is a training program for instruction in hoof care and trimming taught by Dr. J. K. Shearer of Iowa State, College of Veterinary Medicine and Brian Pingsterhaus, Master Trimmer, Pingsterhaus Dairy Care, Germantown, IL.  This program is designed for beef cattle producers, feedlot operators, feedlot personnel, and veterinarians.  Participants will receive instruction in knife sharpening techniques and the treatment of lameness disorders including: proper management of Toe abscesses, Digital Dermatitis, Foot rot, proper application of foot blocks for relief of weight bearing in diseased or injured claws.  The workshop is being held at the Amana Farms in Homestead Iowa on August 23 & 24th.
