Cattle Fitting Clinic

Kirk Stierwalt, an amazing cattlemen will be coming to the Clarke County Fair Grounds on May 4th, 5th, and 6th to help 4-H and FFA members better prepare themselves for showing cattle. This event will be great for those learning to show for the first time and for those that have been showing for a while.

Show Your Love for the Iowa State Fair

What's not to love about the great Iowa State Fair? From funnel cakes, ferris wheels, food on a stick and free entertainment, to premier livestock events, expansive art exhibits and the country's largest state fair food department, the Iowa State Fair has something for everyone. This year, Iowans can show their love for the Fair on their tax returns and help the Fair continue on the path of preserving the historic Fairgrounds.

4-H Enrollments for New and Returning Families

4-H is continually changing each year to help better serve our 4-H members and families, and this year is no exception. 4-H enrollments will now only be available online. I have attached some wonderful help sheets to guide you through the process. We are also offering many different 4-H online training dates, either as a group or one on one. Please refer to the September 4-H newsletter for those dates and times.

4-H’ers Show Cyclone Spirit at Iowa State Women’s Basketball

Nearly 700 Iowa 4-H youth, families and friends cheered on the Iowa State University Women’s Basketball team during 4-H Day at Hilton Coliseum. The fourth annual event attracted 4-H’ers from throughout the state.
Parent-Child Cell Phone Debate Continues

Parents can exert a measure of control over their child’s mobile phone use by limiting use, checking its contents and using it to monitor the whereabouts of their offspring. However, with a few exceptions, these activities by parents do not seem to impact patterns of cell phone use by teens, according to Iowa State University Extension and Outreach family life specialists.
4-H Camp Counselors Grow with Campers

Iowa 4-H Foundation Announces New Peyton Family Scholarship

Sue and Harold Peyton of Sac County have established the Peyton Family Scholarship through the Iowa 4-H Foundation. The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to an Iowa State University student in a major related to agriculture who will be a sophomore, junior or senior in fall 2012.
Cass, Decatur, Taylor Counties Add 4-H History Online

Cass, Decatur and Taylor counties have added their 4-H history to Iowa 4-H History by County, a blog detailing the history of Iowa State University Extension and Outreach 4-H Youth Development. The history blog is a partnership of the Iowa 4-H program and the Iowa 4-H Foundation.

Donate Grain and Invest in Iowa’s #1 Crop: Youth

By donating grain, farmers can support Iowa’s number one crop, youth, say officials with the Iowa 4-H Foundation. Donations to the Iowa 4-H Foundation can be designated to county 4-H endowments, for statewide use or for both purposes.
