Plants Affected by Frigid Temperatures
Winter can be tough on Iowa’s trees and shrubs. Low temperatures, rapid temperature changes, winter desiccation and the weight of ice and snow can damage vulnerable trees and shrubs. Horticulturists with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach answer homeowner questions about the effect this winter’s frigid temperatures on landscape plants.
Families from school districts throughout Northeast Iowa will be making their way to Calmar on Thursday, April 24, to drive robots, play with tornadoes and even pilot flight simulators at the second annual Northeast Iowa Family STEM Festival.
NASHUA – Grain Market Specialist, Chad Hart, and the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Wendy Wintersteen, to speak at the annual meeting of the Northeast Iowa Agricultural Experimental Association (NEIAEA) at the ISU Northeast Research Farm near Nashua.
Moving Beyond the Basics program takes learning to a deeper level with a multi-session program for women focusing on financial literacy. This program is modeled after the nationwide Annie's Project for Farm and Ranch Women.

The Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) Information Center is a joint effort between the various programs doing HACCP research and education at Iowa State University. HACCP is a management system in which food safety is addressed through the analysis and control of biological, chemical, and physical hazards from raw material production, procurement and handling, to manufacturing, distribution and consumption of the finished product.
Iowa State University Extension and Outreach campus and field specialists offer a number of training courses to help educate food handlers in food processing and foodservice establishments serve safe food to their customers.
