All area agri-producers are invited to the annual meeting of the Northeast Iowa Agricultural Experimental Association (NEIAEA) scheduled for Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at the Northeast Research Farm near Nashua.  The annual meeting is free and open to the public and you need not be a NEIAEA member to participate.  A “buy your own” lunch will be served at noon and CCA credits will be available for a nominal fee.

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and the agenda for the annual meeting will include: An introduction of assocaition directors; Tim Goode, Mark Honeyman, and Lois Warme will give the building project presentation  with Kay Connelly,  chair of the fund-raising committee giving the financial side; Educational presentations by Craig Chase on corn and soybean comparative profitability’s and John Lawrence on the economics of cattle production in the ethanol boom; Plus Ken Pecinovsky, Northeast Iowa Research Farm Superintendent, reviewing current research projects on the farm. 

The success of the NEIAEA depends on active members. We welcome new members and encourage you to invite prospective members to attend.  Lifetime membership in the NEIAEA is $100.

In addition to the educational program and the election of directors, the 2008 board will consider several By Law changes including: changing the requirement that the Treasurer be a director; adding the immediate past President as an Ex Officio member of the Executive Committee; and replacing the election of county directors with an appointment to the board by the respective county’s Extension Council for a maximum of two 3-year terms.
