As a lasting legacy of Iowa State University’s Sesquicentennial celebration, the Chickasaw County Extension Council dedicated a message and bulletin board near the entry gate at the Big Four Fairgrounds in Nashua. The celebration was held at 5 p.m. on Monday, July 9 in front of the new bulleting board.
Chickasaw County Extension Chairman Larry Tupper presented a brass plaque to Big Four Fair Board President Dave Bucknell. The plaque will be affixed to the new bulletin board. Other council and board members attending the dedication included: Chickasaw County Extension Council members Larry Tupper, Susie Anderson, and Annette Dietz plus Big Four Fair Board members Dave Bucknell and Albert Hartman.
Earlier this year the Extension Council had donated copies of the book, “Tradition and Transformation” a sesquicentennial history of Iowa State University to each of the libraries in the county.
“We’re a century and a half old, but we don’t look it,” said Jack Payne, vice president for ISU Extension and Outreach. “From hybrid seed corn to biofuels, Iowa State University Extension has been relevant to Iowans by addressing important issues. Extension educators live in the communities where they work, so they can help connect Iowans to everything ISU has to offer.”
