Beginning on Monday, March 3 Chickasaw County Extension and the Chickasaw County Conservation Board will host a Winter Conservation Program Series of five programs for citizens interested in learning about conservation and the environment.
The first program will feature DNR Wildlife Biologist Doug Chafa challenging participants to understand the natural science of hunting, how seasons, limits and sexing of licenses utilizes the scientific method to insure that wildlife populations are safe, healthy and balanced with their environment. In addition, Fayette County Extension Director Dan Burkhart will share his methods of getting the most value out of wild game meat. All the programs will be held at the Community Services Building at 260 East Prospect in New Hampton.
Other programs in the series include:
· Conservation Law and Policy, a roundtable panel of local, area and state specialists plus landowners who will share their insights and then field questions from the audience. Monday, Mar. 16 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
· Edible Mushroom program by Rosaria Healy on Sunday, Mar. 16 from 2 to 4 p.m.
· Conservation Programs on Private Lands and Landowner Options on Monday, Mar. 24 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
· Floating Through History with Larry Stone on Sun. Mar. 30 from 2 to 4 p.m..
Each program has a registration fee of $5 or you can register for all five for only $20.
