Talking about estate planning can be difficult and implementing an estate plan can be even harder. ISU Extension and Outreach is hosting a workshop called “Evaluating Your Estate Plan” to provide an opportunity for people to learn about options in transitioning assets to the next generation.

Parents want to know about good nutrition for their young athletes and they depend on coaches to give their players accurate information.  ISU Extension and Outreach is hosting a program called “Eat to Compete” which will help coaches, teachers and athletic directors know what kind of advice they can offer.

Specialized farm equipment will be showcased at a field day and open house hosted by Kymar Acres and Windridge Implements on June 9. The equipment includes various seeders, tiller and transplanters designed for small to medium-sized vegetable farms.

Farmers interested in pursuing alternative enterprises regularly cite “access to capital” as a main barrier to getting started, but a worthwhile lending relationship is a two-way street. Both farmers and lenders need to understand the other party’s needs and market context to accurately assess risk and reward.

Farmers interested in starting or expanding local food production, processing, marketing or distribution in northeast Iowa are eligible to apply for a mini-grant from the Northeast Iowa Food and Farm Coalition (NIFF). The opportunity is available to producers in Allamakee, Chickasaw, Clayton, Fayette, Howard and Winneshiek counties.
