The 2017 Beginning Farmer Retreat is intended for beginning farmers who are motivated to improve their financial and business knowledge for their existing or future farm. The weekend will feature plenty of social time, small group discussions, group activities led by an expert and individual work time.

With continued low commodity prices, many farmers are looking to trim costs.  For fertilizer, don’t simply trim overall costs but rather selectively maximize economic returns to fertilizer expense.  ISU Extension is conducting small-group workshops for those wanting to understand soil tests and fertilizer recommendations.

After a successful inaugural conference in 2016, the second annual Soil Health Conference will be held in Ames, Iowa, on Feb.16-17. This year’s event will consist of two full days of presentations on a wide variety of topics concerning soil health with invited guest speakers from around the country.
