Round-Up activities are conducted at the Animal Science Department facilities on the ISU campus and the nearby research farms. The purpose of Round-Up is to teach modern concepts and technologies in Animal Agriculture to Iowa 4-H and FFA members and to also introduce them to career opportunities in the field of animal science.  Participants choose the project area they are interested in - horse, beef, sheep, swine, dairy, or dairy goat.

Round-Up consists primarily of hands-on, experiential learning activities that cover a wide array of animal science related topics. Workshops offered include: computer simulation activities to develop feed rations and breeding programs, artificial insemination training, ultrasound determination of carcass composition in the live animal, equine training techniques, lessons in cardiovascular physiology using a treadmill with horses and much more!

Round-Up participants are also able to participate in the evening activities of the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference, including the banquet, picnic, and dances.
