Early Childhood Professionals are invited to join us for any or all of our online training sessions taking place from September through May. Classes are interactive and fun! Explore important topics that help you provide great care to the children in your center or home! Each training session is suitable for all training levels and provides each participant with 1.5 hours of continuing education for DHS. Please note - Online trainings do count as group setting credit because of the high level of group interactions.

Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach invite women farmers and agribusiness professionals to take part in Annie’s Project, an educational program dedicated to strengthening women’s role in modern agriculture. The program will be hosted at the Cherokee County Extension and Outreach office in Cherokee, beginning Thursday, August 25, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and continuing for the next five Thursdays. A light supper will be provided each week at 5:30 p.m.

Gain tools and resources to help others define their financial goals, use credit wisely, manage debt effectively and access appropriate community resources with the “Your Money, Your Goals” toolkit from Iowa State University Extension and Outreach on Tuesday, Dec. 13 and Dec. 20 at Iowa Lakes Community College (Room 114) in Spencer. Course registration ends Friday, Dec. 12, 2016.

  • RECAP provides data and research on local economic, demographic, and social trends for business and communities.

  • Reports of recent and historical trends in the local retail trade sector by city.

  • The ISU Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship is a gateway that works in two directions. In one direction, ISU faculty, researchers, and students become connected to the entrepreneurial world. In the other, Iowa's business and entrepreneurial community gain access to an array of resources and information within Iowa State University.

  • The Agricultural Marketing Resource Center is an electronic, national resource for producers interested in value-added agriculture. Browse commodities and products, investigate market and industry trends, study business creation and operation, read research results and locate value-added resources.

  • Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management Extension provides resources for the hospitality industry.

  • Data on each county in Iowa including population demographics, education, retail sales, personal income, employment, occupation, housing, and family characteristics.

  • The Iowa Small Business Development Center (SBDC) conducts research, counsels, and trains business people in management, financing, and operating small businesses, and provides comprehensive information services and access to experts in a variety of fields.
