Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach - Cherokee County is offering a food safety training for food service managers on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at the ISU Extension and Outreach Office in Cherokee. The program is based on the National Restaurant Association’s ServSafe™ certification program and the Iowa Food Code. The class is beneficial for foodservice managers from all areas such as schools, restaurants, convenience stores, child care, senior meal sites and health care.

The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Master Gardener program will explore how Master Gardeners can support food security during its winter webcast series. The 2017 series will offer Master Gardeners six educational hours while taking a look at ways to measure volunteer efforts, how to utilize small garden spaces, learn about food safety in the garden and more. The Master Gardener 2017 Winter Webcasts, called Growing Together, are scheduled to be shown at the ISU Extension and Outreach Cherokee County office (209 Centennial Drive, Cherokee) on Jan. 9, Feb. 13 & March 13

Average Iowa farmland value has shown a decline for the third year in a row — the first time this has happened since the 1980s farm crisis — and is now estimated to be $7,183 per acre. The statewide per acre value declined $449, or 5.9 percent, since November 2015. Land values were determined by the 2016 Iowa State University Land Value Survey.

Early Childhood Professionals are invited to join us for any or all of our online training sessions taking place from September through May. Classes are interactive and fun! Explore important topics that help you provide great care to the children in your center or home! Each training session is suitable for all training levels and provides each participant with 1.5 hours of continuing education for DHS. Please note - Online trainings do count as group setting credit because of the high level of group interactions.

Browse commodities and products, investigate market and industry trends, study business creation and operation, read research results and locate value-added resources.

  • Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management Extension provides resources for the hospitality industry.

  • Data on each county in Iowa including population demographics, education, retail sales, personal income, employment, occupation, housing, and family characteristics.

  • The Iowa Small Business Development Center (SBDC) conducts research, counsels, and trains business people in management, financing, and operating small businesses, and provides comprehensive information services and access to experts in a variety of fields.
