ISU Extension and Outreach - Cherokee invites residents to join them for a learning with lunch from noon to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1. During the lunch, Renea Ogren will discuss how to live your life with purpose and passion. Those in attendance will be encouraged to renew their sense of purpose and wholeness in day-to-day life.

The Cherokee County Extension Council met Jan. 12, conducting their organizational meeting and first regular meeting of the year. Officers were elected and are as follows: Chair - David Whited; Vice-Chair - Chuck Clark; Secretary - Donna Amundson; Treasurer - Sara Husman.

The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Master Gardener program will explore how Master Gardeners can support food security during its winter webcast series. The 2017 series will offer Master Gardeners six educational hours while taking a look at ways to measure volunteer efforts, how to utilize small garden spaces, learn about food safety in the garden and more. The Master Gardener 2017 Winter Webcasts, called Growing Together, are scheduled to be shown at the ISU Extension and Outreach Cherokee County office (209 Centennial Drive, Cherokee) on Jan. 9, Feb. 13 & March 13

The STEM Robotics Summer Associate Educator will work with youth and adults in Lyon, Osceola, Sioux, O’Brien, Plymouth and Cherokee counties to deliver and support STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Robotics research-based education, beginning May 24, 2017 through August 16, 2017.

  • The ISU Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship is a gateway that works in two directions. In one direction, ISU faculty, researchers, and students become connected to the entrepreneurial world. In the other, Iowa's business and entrepreneurial community gain access to an array of resources and information within Iowa State University.

  • The Agricultural Marketing Resource Center is an electronic, national resource for producers interested in value-added agriculture. Browse commodities and products, investigate market and industry trends, study business creation and operation, read research results and locate value-added resources.

  • Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management Extension provides resources for the hospitality industry.

  • Data on each county in Iowa including population demographics, education, retail sales, personal income, employment, occupation, housing, and family characteristics.

  • The Iowa Small Business Development Center (SBDC) conducts research, counsels, and trains business people in management, financing, and operating small businesses, and provides comprehensive information services and access to experts in a variety of fields.
