Make the Best Better Week
Ask anyone who was ever in 4-H and they will probably be able to explain their first 4-H project. My neighbor down the road gave me an orphan lamb to raise and thus started many great years in 4-H. During National Make the Best Better Week (which is really National 4-H Week, I just used the 4-H Motto to see if you were paying attention) October 6-12 we remember 4-H and look to the future of this great youth organization.
Throughout National 4-H week and the year, 4-H’ers not only raising orphan lambs but they are leading efforts to solve problems in their communities, raise awareness about environmental issues, and make a difference for their futures.
4-H is one of the largest youth development organizations in Iowa and the largest in the nation with over six million young people. Cerro Gordo County’s 4-H program numbers more than 150members and more than 40 volunteers. We hope more people will join us in the 4-H experience.
You can join the 4-H community today and start developing your own 4-H memories whether you are a youth or an adult. Just contact your local Extension office or call our office at 641-423-0844. You can also come to the 4-H Fall Fire Up at the 4-H Learning Center on the grounds of the North Iowa Events Center on Sunday, October 6 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Lots of 4-H’ers will be there to explain the program and how you can get involved.
Together we can all make the best better through 4-H.
