Budget Basics - Fall 2009

  • Is your money gone before you get more?
  • Do you wonder where your money was spent?
  • Do you run out of food or gas for your car?
  • Do you receive collection past due bills?
  • Do you dream about buying something, but think you can never afford it?
  • Do you pay some of your bills late each month?
  • Do you receive aid from family, friends, or agencies to make ends meet each month?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, you need a spending plan. This course will help your understand your own spending and learn to manage your personal finances. The classes includes budgeting, record keeping, credit cards, savings and investments.

How This Works

Budget Basics is taught online over a three week period, one class a week. It will be offered each month between October and December, 2009. After you register, you will receive class materials via e-mail and a web address with instructions on how to log in.

Learn to

 Set goals and develop a plan to achieve them

 Develop a budget

 Organize financial records

 Manage credit wisely

 Understand retirement options: 401K, IRA, etc.

Send registration and $15 to ISU Extension by the 20th of the month prior to class start date.
Scholarships & certificates of completion available.
